Common questions

How do I start a chat?

Open IncogSnap and tap Create Room. Share the 6-digit code (for example 839-204), QR code or invite link with a friend you know. When they join, you’re connected directly.

How do I join a friend’s room?

Tap Join Room and enter the 6-digit code, scan the QR code, or open the invite link you received (it looks like incogsnap.com/join/839204). If the app is installed, it opens and fills in the code for you.

Can I chat with people I don’t know?

No. IncogSnap is not a random or anonymous chat app. There is no search, matching or public room. You can only join a room if someone you know gives you its private code, QR code or link, and you should only share your own codes with people you trust.

Who can use IncogSnap?

IncogSnap is for people aged 17 and over.

The invite link doesn’t open the app.

“Room expired” or the code doesn’t work.

A room closes automatically after 10 minutes if nobody joins, and codes work only once. Ask your friend to create a new room and send a fresh code.

We can’t connect.

Both phones need an internet connection. Try switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data, or turn off any VPN, then create a new room. Some restrictive networks block direct connections.

Where did my messages and photos go?

They’re gone by design. IncogSnap doesn’t keep chat history, and we can’t recover deleted messages or photos.

How do I set up Gemini AI?

Open Settings → Gemini AI and follow the three steps to get a free API key from Google AI Studio, then paste it in and tap Verify. The key is stored encrypted on your device.

How do I remove my data?

See Account & Data Deletion.

Report abuse or a safety concern

If someone uses IncogSnap to harass or harm you or others, or you encounter content involving the exploitation of children, please report it:

Because chats are end-to-end encrypted and stored only on devices, we can’t read them — so please include what happened, the approximate date and time, the room code, and if you can, screenshots from your own device. If someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services. See our Child Safety Standards.
